How do students get to school?

Today our class made a plan to survey the school. We wanted to know how many students walk or bike to school and how many are driving. Rick Hansen P.S. is a healthy living school and we are excited to see just how healthy we are! We have been asked to share our findings at the upcoming assembly.

To begin, we decided that we would need to ask each student how they travel to school. We made a list of each home room and set out to survey the classes. We did discover that some ways of surveying were more efficient than others. When we returned, we decided to record our findings in a chart.

We had only one 'block' in our work so far. Data for one class was recorded for only students that drive to school. Tomorrow we will brainstorm ideas for how to figure out how many students are walking when we know the total number of students in that class.

Tomorrow we will finish gathering data and begin creating our graph! We can't wait to find out the results!!
