During our Health class today we talked about how we can stay safe during each of the seasons. We discussed how safety issues might change during each season because of the weather and the activities we do during each season.
Here are a few of the ideas we talked about in class:
"Be safe in the water. Swim with an adult." - E.Y.
"Watch out for an undertow when swimming in the summer." - A.K.
"In winter, don't ride your bike. You might slip on snow." A.V.
"Wear a helmet in the winter for winter sports." - C.S.
"Watch out when you're skating on the ice on the lake because the ice could be too thin. You could fall in the water and drown." - J.H.
"Wear warm clothes when it's cold because you could get frostbite." - L.E.
"Wear a life jacket when you're swimming." - V.S.
"When you're young, always skate with an adult so that you don't slip and get hurt." - M.K.
"Wear sun block on hot days so that you don't get a sunburn." - E.R.
"You're supposed to wear helmets and if you don't then you can get hurt a lot." - E.C.
At home, talk about how your family can stay safe in each season! Ideas for discussion:
How do we stay safe in the winter?
Why is it important to stay safe in the summer?
What activities do we do during the spring that make safety important?
What seasonal changes in the fall affect our activities? How do we stay safe?
